PROCEDURE :
INSTALLATION OF CITRIX
Revised
: 9.27.05
…………..……..……
In
order to access NeoSystems applications remotely – for example, GCS and MS
Office - users (client PC’s) must install the Citrix ICA client. In
order to print out of Citrix, the
ThinPrint client must also be installed. Following, are the
installation notes for the Citrix ICA and ThinPrint .print client installs.
NOTE : If a prior installation becomes corrupted,
you will need to first uninstall those clients (step 1 below). If it is a
new machine or
you are a new client, just proceed to step 2 with the installation.
1. UNINSTALLATION OF
EXISTING CITRIX
(if required):
If a prior install
exists and
gets corrupted, you will need to uninstall it first.
To do this, at the PC :
: Select Windows Start – Settings – Control Panel –
Add/Remove Programs
: Select “MetaFrame Presentation Server Client” and
remove it
: Select “ThinPrint
Client Win32” and remove it
: Reboot your PC
2. INSTALLATION OF CITRIX
Please
note :
·
Current users wishing to just upgrade their version of the Citrix
client will not need to uninstall the existing Citrix client they
currently have unless the current one is corrupted or not functioning
properly (see Step 1 above).
·
You will need to close all other Windows applications during the
install.
·
You will need to be a local “administrator” on your computer
·
Please follow the instructions below closely. In several steps, you
do not just take the default.

INSTALLATION OF THINPRINT CLIENT
·
AFTER the Citrix ICA client, you’ll need to download and install
the ThinPrint Client to facilitate
printing through Citrix.
·
You will find the ThinPrint (.print Windows
6.2) install file on the NeoSystems server NeoSysMF4 in the SHARED FOLDERS
under \NeoFiles\Common Files\CitrixThinPrint Client SW folder. Double-click on the file setup. OR, click on the following hyperlink setup.exe
·
Select to save the file to your local hard drive (recommend a C:\Downloads
directory) and then Run/execute the setup.exe
program either from the server or from the downloads directory where you just
saved a copy.

·
If asked, Select (English
language), and then just select Next.
·
Select Next at the Installation Wizard screen and select to accept the
license agreement and select Next
·
Click “Accept” to install it to C:\Program Files\ThinPrint

·
For “Client Type”, Select “.print
Client Windows

·
It then asks for the location of your
Citrix ICA client installation (where the Citrix client is that you just installed). It should find your Citrix client and default to c:\program files\citrix\ica client.
If not, you must browse to this directory.
This must be explicitly identified in the ThinPrint installation.

Select Next
·
Select Install. The install
program then installs the ThinPrint client software. Select FINISH. Both Citrix and ThinPrint are now installed
and you are ready to configure your printers in ThinPrint.
4.
LOGGING IN AND FINAL CONFIGURATION
·
It’s important that you test your Citrix client installation and
configure your ThinPrint. Open up
Internet Explorer and the NeoSystems
Client Tools page. Select Productivity
Tools.
·
Log into NeoSystems’ Citrix servers with your assigned Citrix
Username and Password. Keep your password confidential. Access the “Notepad” application to generate
a Citrix session. (Accessing GCS or an
application in MS Office creates a Citrix session as well). Note -
The “Time & Expense” application
does not require or initiate a Citrix session).
·
After successful logon to an application, a “Program
·
A ThinPrint Client
icon also appears in your toolbar identified as “.print Client RDP/ICA” if you run your mouse cursor over it. You will need to configure this ThinPrint
Client icon in order to enable printing. Open up this ThinPrint .print Client
icon
·
In the SETUP tab, check
“Inherit Client’s Default Printer” and uncheck “Default at Server”.

·
Under the “Assignment”
Tab, check all applicable printers that you use if not already checked. If not
already checked, check the “Enable sending properties” box. Select OK to close the ThinPrint client.

·
Note - If the printers
weren’t already checked, you’ll need to close and exit your Citrix session and
re-log on to Citrix to have those printers available within your Citrix session.
You will then be able to select them when printing. If you
add a printer or when you change locations later, remember to open up this
ThinPrint Client icon in order to check the new printer and have it available
to you. Again, you will need to log off/on Citrix for the change to take
effect.
·
Citrix Session Note :
When accessing an application which creates a Citrix session, you may occasionally not be
able to connect – the application will not come up. This is sometimes a symptom of where a prior
application did not properly terminate.
It creates a “disconnected” session.
After exiting and trying again, you may be able to disconnect your
session by opening up the “Program Neighborhood Connection Center”
icon – the i.
You may select your hung application and select Logoff. If still unable to open an application, you
should contact the NeoSystems HelpDesk (technical support) to clear your
“disconnected” session.
